Survival of the fittest.

4 flights and 31 hours later, we made it to Phuket, Thailand. The 13 hour flight from Los Angeles to Beijing wasn't the most miserable thing I've ever done, but it was definitely up there on my list. We flew Air China, the plane looked like it was from the 1700s. No individual TVs, no air conditioner vents, and no English speaking passengers. Nothing worth noting on the plane ride, except for the fact that I didn't stand up one time, not even to use the bathroom. Oh and also, when booking my ticket two months ago I selected low calories meals, a decision I quickly regretted once I saw Katie's sodium packed mac and cheese with ham.

Layover in Beijing, brutal. We went from a1700s plane ride to a 3000s looking airport, everything was super high tech. By the time we figured out how to use the wifi it was time to board the plane. To use the wifi we had to scan our passports in some sort of contraption which printed us individual logins and password codes. The airport was spotlessly clean and freezing cold.

Beijing to Phuket, 6 hour flight, we each had our row of seats, slept the whole time.

Arrival in Phuket, 1:30 am local time. Well lets see, Katie's luggage didn't make it. Good thing I way overpacked. Mike met us at the airport, he had ridden his rental motorcycle to meet us, and we followed him back to his place in a cab. The ride was 40 minutes and cost us 700 Baht (20 American dollars). Pretty cheap! His place is called, "The Mansion" and it is pretty sweet. Katie and I have our own room nextdoor to his which has a king size bed AND a toilet! By the time we got in and settled down it was 5am, but the roosters start cockadoodle dooing at 4:45 am, so we havent slept. So far my hair dryer has exploded and my stomach is about to do the same. Our plan is to stay awake all day and try to get to bed early tonight and sleep through the night.

A few side notes, this is NOT a fashion trip! Please dont judge the greasy hair and repeat clothing attires. Also, if you are an iphone or android user, download the viber app! Its free to call and text from overseas!

Over and out, time to wake Mike up and explore!
